Almost a month of weekly updates! The odd thing this week is that I haven’t really been playing any games for any length of time, however I did come across a gem of a game called ‘The Darkness’. Now, this is a game I’ve wanted for a while, all the way through production in fact, but the closer it got to its release the more I started to distance myself from it as it looked no more than average, which was a shame. None the less I added it to my SwapGame rental queue and amazingly it was sent straight away. Much like DiRT it was an unused game, completely free of any fingerprints, scratches or general use marks… bonus! Anyway, I loved it, I will almost certainly write a review up about it at some point or other, but I wouldn’t expect it any time soon, I’m very… very lazy at the moment.

Anywho, sorry about the lateness of this post, the idea is that it’s posted on Wednesdays, I’ll make sure it is next week.

Unfortunately I still haven’t broken the 1,000 mark, but I am definitely surprised at how many points I did get because I haven’t really gamed much at all this week. I really did enjoy The Darkness too and I certainly didn’t charge through it and it was all the better because of it. I’ve really lost the urge to play games at the moment and really should be getting DiRT completed and sent back, hopefully I’ll send The Darkness and DiRT back at the same time and go back to another one of my older games. I’m thinking Lost Planet, I really want to get some of that out the way.

I’ve also recently bought the update for Crackdown and will need a partner to complete the game with (the whole game, not just the update). I’ve also bought the map pack for Ghost Recon 2 featuring maps from the prequel so that should make it easier (and more fun) to get the online achievements on that (should BT work), especially with the sheer number of maps on it now. Hopefully I’ll get some games in with dannyjo22 as he’s just started again. Finally I bought Map Pack #3 for Lost Planet purely so I can play a map which looks really good online… probably an odd decision to buy it though, especially as I have yet to play level 2 in SP or any MP at all in it.

I’ve also recently been playing Tomb Raider: Anniversary on the Playstation 3 (well, Playstation 2 game on the PS3), which is quite good, but I really wish they had made it for the PS3/Xbox360 instead of last generation. Thankfully it looks pretty nice on the PC, so I might get the PC version and the Wireless gamepad adaptor for my Xbox360 pad to work… that is if I get my Graphics Card sorted out.

As for next week, it will probably be a quiet one on the gaming front as I think the time is coming for me to get back into working with 3D Studio Max and building my portfolio, I do kind of miss it but I feel a little burned out a the moment. Expect any updates of my work to appear on here.

Oh, and on the DVD front I’m upto DVD #5 on Smallville Season 5 after I finally decided to continue watching it after February. It’s kind of annoying me now. Not in the fact that the show has lost its spark, it hasn’t, it’s brilliant, but I really REALLY liked the earlier seasons where Lex Luthor was trying to be Clarks friend, now he’s a backstabbing ass-bandit, but I guess I knew it was always gonna happen. I’ve also completed season one of Heroes after finally watching the last 17 episodes that I had recorded on Sky as well as downloading the last episode (#23) from the Internet as I couldn’t be bothered waiting til Monday :p. Heroes became really good in the end with a good (although predictable) storyline and some excellent characters (although Nikki pisses me off) and some dubious acting, but it’s all round good fun. Don’t know what to watch after Smallville though… *ponders*. I’m also reading Ben Eltons new book, Chart Throb slowly, it’s enjoyable and light entertainment and definitely a cracking satirical look at the sheer number of ‘reality’ TV shows on TV such as X-Factor, but it just hasn’t gripped me yet. More like a chapter a night job, but I am 100 pages in and it still has my interest, so I’ll be finishing it.
