14Apr3rd Time Lucky!

At just after 12 noon a Parceline van turned up and offered a big, brown box on my doorstep. After offering my John Hancock I took my 3rd Playstation 3 60gb console in.

I was told on the phone by the Sony representative that it would be in a pink box with 2 seals on it (which I apparently should have had before – I never, I was handed a PS3 console (literally, just the console – not boxed or anything). This wasn’t the case (I thought the pink box would be inside the brown box), instead I was given a brand new Playstation 3 60gb console box (so I now have 2) but my hopes at getting new cables and controller were dashed when I opened it.

Inside was just a console wrapped up in some lovely biodegradable protection. Thankfully the console is pristene and quite clearly a brand new case (which squeeks a lot!) which has some lovely protective stickies over the buttons and memory reader flap. I love peeling these things off!

I’m hoping nothing goes wrong with this console and that the Multi AV port is perfect (this is the first thing that I noticed wrong about the last one; something that I informed Inoshishi of straight away but decided to try and live with it). If this one doesn’t go wrong then it’s better than either of my other two. It’s also just in time for the big April 15th update featuring a new store, so I’m gonna hop on now and get updated to the latest version as I have a feeling it will be hella slow tomorrow.

I never realised just how much I missed my PS3 til it was gone. Now I can continue watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer upscaled (something that is necessary for seasons 1 and 2!)

Wish me luck!

At least you’re getting 60GB models back. I’d go ballistic if they only offered a 40GB without the back compat.

That’s not going to happen. The fix the faulty component and send it out in a new case. They won’t give you a 40gb model (mainly because they can’t :p).

Apparently they have enough components to support all the 60gb models.

Nice result (again!) mate, lets all ‘Knock on Wood’ that nothing happens to this one :)

What about the warranty for this one, do you get an entire year from today?

Nope, I only get 3 months on this. On the plus side I just wrote this post on my Playstation 3!

You offered him your John Hancock? You sure it wasn’t just your cock like last time? :p

Anyways, have fun with the console mate. While it lasts that is. (I have a feeling it won’t be long till your next call to Sony…)

lol, thankfully it was a different guy. This was Parceline, the other company was City Link. I think he’d be afraid to come back to be fair.

So far, so good with the PS3. In fact, it’s been brilliant, everything is running like lightning and worked first time. It’s also quieter than my 2nd one (it’s like my first one). Unfortunately I can’t get anything downloaded as PSN is down so I can’t even log in.

It was only when I set this PS3 up that I remembered that I forgot to back up my Final Fantasy VII save… gutted. Never mind, must start again.

Oh I forgot to mention, lately my PS3 seems to be having trouble reading off my Burnout disc (I haven’t tried any other games yet) – like when I picked my car from the garage I pressed Accept to go to the paint menu and it took a while to come up – meanwhile the music stopped but I was still able to move the camera. I hope it doesn’t pack in just before GTA and MGS4 are released :|

Looks like you got a result there then. I have been toying with the idea of getting a console for a few months now and was going to be a straight duke out between the PlayStation 3 and the X360. After a pretty long weekend on Fight Night and Pro Evo then the PS3 is firmly on the shopping list over the next three months or so.

What was the problem with your PS3 in the first place ?

My first Playstation 3 had a faulty Blu-Ray drive, my second Playstation 3 had a faulty graphics chip (and a dodgy Multi-AV port – unrelated).
