29JulOoops… I Did It Again… Again…

Football Manager 2007Much like my post dated April 5th [here] I was laying in bed and was thinking ‘I really need to play another Football Manager game’, knowing full well I hadn’t played FM2007. I’d been toying with the idea of picking it up for about two weeks, looking in GAME, Grainger Games etc… both with prices a little higher than I wanted to pay for a second hand title. eBay was a little cheaper, but I got sniped on a good £4 deal. Sitting on the course mentioned below, I was there on my dinner break, went into GAME and saw it for £10 second hand, but I was still tempted (even though it was only £8 new in there at Christmas), I thought I’ll give the tiny new section a look and there it was, £10 new… so I snapped it up.

So far it’s been great, though it’s noticeably a step backwards from Football Manager 2008 both in terms of the GUI and also in terms of loading speeds – It’s quite delayed between clicking the triggers and getting an action, but it’s still a little better than Football Manager 2006 and that will do me. Achievement wise it does seem the hardest of the 3 FM titles featuring some quite ridiculous promotion challenges, but I’d already made my mind up that I want to get full points on all Manager games, so far I am 3000/3000 with LMA Manager, Football Manager 2006 and Football Manager 2008, the problem could well be Championship Manager 2007 which I am assuming is not going to be very good, but even a bad management game would get more time from me than a good anything else, I do get a little addicted.

In terms of design it does have elements of 2008 and 2006, the interface looks noticeably like 2006, however navigating through the options is like 2008 – which is the only thing about 2008 I didn’t like (which I mentioned in my post about FM2008). In 3 days of playing I have already notched up 20 hours of gameplay time, I’ve won the EPL with Man Utd (which is always my team for the 10 seasons achievement – 20 seasons in FM2006 ;) ) and I’ve started the Spanish promotion challenge with Rayo Vallacano which didn’t go too well as I didn’t win the league – I did come second and get promoted though, so onto the 2nd division, then the Spanish Liga.

I think it’s safe to say I am addicted once more… Be back soon, gonna go play :) .

I’ll let you know what Champ’s like when I can be bothered to play it, I’m not expecting good things though!
