01AprI Did It!

I got all my work completed and handed in for the Wednesday 28th Noon hand-in deadline, it was to the very wire though having finished the work at 8.30am and then having Vista mess up and taking an hour to burn 8 discs of small content, 4 which were for me and 4 for my friends project that needed handing in, but he was in Barcelona, Spain, watching the England vs Andorra match (poor soul).

Then I had to print it on the colour laser printers at University (the Dissertation[s] not the discs) which cost a mind-boggling £32 for two 66-page documents then bind them which was another £4. Everything combined it came to £40, so I really hope I pass! I think they will because I am such a hunk. Atleast thats what my mom says.

I will post my final project up here later today or tomorrow as well as my dissertation for those who would like to know the theory behind environmental modelling, what it takes, why it needs it, how I did it and what  I have accomplished. Note that this was written over 1.5 days due to rendering times of the afforementioned project without any sleep so I am sure there will be some hilarity in regards to mispelled words or incorrect grammar, most of it probably comes off as my speaking out of my ass.

    Congratulations!
Are you free from Uni work now or still got other things to do?

I’d be interested to read the final project and dissertation :)

No, I still have another 4 projects but they aren’t of the same scale as this one. A couple will involve modelling of some sort, but nothing major.

One project (Games Interface Design) involves making the main menu (as well as 4 other menu screens) and an in-game ‘inventory’. My game will be based around ‘The Lost Room’ television show, if you haven’t seen it then I highly recommend it. It’s 3 90minute episodes and well worth the watch.

Another project (Games Production) involve making a game as part of a team, this will be a little playformer comparable with SNES platformers but without the final polish (I think). I’m in a group of 7 people all of which have different roles to fill, mine is a foreground object modeller, so basically I model anything the main character must jump over, go under or interact with.

Another (Portfolio) involves making a website (check!) and presenting my work on it in the format of a portfolio including my work as-well as letters (or e-mails) to companies relevent to what I want to go into when I leave University.

Another (Games Futures) involves writing a 3,000 or 4,000 report on anything I wish about games… I’m very opinionated so that should be easy, if not stressful from anger! Grrr.

So these are all pretty good and interesting to work on (bar Portfolio which is seriously boring) and then I’ll be a free man. I hope to have time to model a few more items around these projects in my spare time, I have a real fancy for modelling a quad-bike so we will see where that goes.

Congratulations on getting it all done matey, as long as this isn’t an April Fools :p

I have a copy of my dissertation sitting on my shelf. When I look at it and think of all the hard work I put in, I am both proud of its hefty size and have a great urge to set it on fire for eating up all of my free time.
