24OctToo many games?

Half Life 2: The Orange BoxToday I purchased Half Life 2: The Orange Box on the Xbox360, a collection of 5 games from the Half-Life series

  • * Half Life 2
  • * Half Life 2: Episode 1
  • * Half Life 2: Episode 2
  • * Portal
  • * Team Fortress 2

Now this is a game I’ve been looking forward to for a while, and something I would certainly class as a AAA title. The problem is, this is a period of time in the gaming world unlike any other I’ve known in my times of buying games. There are probably too many games out. I am a multi-format owner as I usually have been, this generation I own all 3 major home consoles (Playstation 3, Xbox360 and Wii) as well as the 2 hand-helds (DS Lite and PSP), and I can honestly say, especially as someone currently out of work, that there are too many games coming out, as well as too many I have bought in recent months, especially stupid considering my current financial situation.

Stupidly, I bought Half Life 2. I don’t know why other than I woke up this morning with new toy syndrome knowing I wanted to buy a new game. Now in recent times I’ve bought a ridiculous amount of games such as:

22OctGod

Nemanja Vidic

He’s back and fit for our (Manchester United) game against Dynamo Kiev.
Probably the best defender in the world at the moment, he would be a massive miss to any team. Fortunately we only missed him for 1/2 the Wigan game and the Aston Villa game. It’s no coincidence that the first game without him we conceeded a goal (in the air no less). Thankfully he’ll be back mid-week and hopefully starting.

He injured himself after trying to make Marcus Bents head explode and causing himself a concussion, however I don’t think he was ever worried. In fact, this quote I read sums him up perfectly:

“Vidic isn’t worried about his blurred vision, it gives him twice as many things to destroy!”

A legend in the making and the best consistently performing CB we’ve had since the days of Dolly and Daisy.

19OctSorry for the delay!

Sorry about the total lack of posting. I wish I had a reason, but if I’m being honest, I don’t… I’ve been lazy and all too often thought.. I really can’t be arsed. I apologise, especially as I know that I enjoy writing and it’s quite relaxing to post stuff.
Anyway, as you can probably see, or as you will see if you’ve been on my site before, my theme has changed. If you haven’t been to my site then fuck you. Only kidding. Welcome… but seriously, where have you been? Nokkon Wud is not impressed. I’ll forgive you though.

It’s been a pretty mad week all things considered, both in my real life and also in my online life. Firstly, Saturday through Monday I was in Amsterdam with 8 other people, two of which I’ve mentioned here before, Catherine and Matthew as well as Tom (Matthews brother and who’s 21st B’day it was), his girlfriend Claire, her 2 friends Baz (it is a girl, honest) and Beth, as well as Toms friend, Will and housemate, Shaun. It was a good laugh, originally traveling to Leeds to pick up Shaun and then making our way to Hull where we caught the ferry (Pride of Rotterdam) to Rotterdam (Europoort). The night was met with the excitement of children on Christmas Eve, ‘Let’s get pissed’ was the motto… and didn’t we. It was the night of the England rugby semi-final (I don’t like Rugby, but it was brilliant) and an incredibly cheesy show-act called ‘Full Extra’, they were great! Well… the band were, unfortunately for the second show they were joined by the biggest prick on the ship. It was clear to all that he must be killed.
After committing the deed and disposing of the body…
.. I fucking wish…
Any who, the drinks kept coming, I got smashed, bought a £38 round, drank more Stella (Eugh!) and White Wine (Eugherer!) we all made our way back to our rooms (I’ll state the case that it was in fact only myself, Matthew and Catherine who maintained any form or pace and dignity (or lack of) in our drinking) at 1.30am knowing full well we had to get up at 6am. It was a rough night. The 3 of us were all in the same room, myself on the top bunk (I’m honestly not sure how I got up there…) and it was bumpy. It took wayyy too long to get to sleep. A few hours later I was awoken by Matthew who was reaquianting himself with the prior days Chips and Stella. We decided to go and grab breakfast, which at 14euros each was somewhat steep, and reasonably unpleasant.

We arrived in Amsterdam via a 90 minute bus journey which, somehow I managed to sleep through for around half of it.. the other half was putting up with some right pricks sat at the back of the bus who didn’t have a clue what they were talking about for most of it and being ignorant Brits for the rest. It was painful. I remember one of their topics went onto ‘Butt Plugs’ and their purpose, to which one girl (the ‘slag’) claimed it was to ‘keep everything in’, I mean, what the fuck!

Amsterdam was cool, though amazingly in the 7 hours we were there we never went in any shops… which is quite odd. We went to Madame Tussauds which was pretty neat (I’ll get some photo’s of it up later) and the Anne Franke museum which wasn’t so neat. We also went to an Argentinian restaurant which is something I’ve never done before and wouldn’t mind doing again, though the quality of the meat didn’t taste anywhere near the standard of ours.

Way back it was the same story, same band and same prick of a host (really wish we’d topped him by this point) and got a cracking nights sleep.. (I’ve sped this story up as it’s getting on…).

So that’s what happened in my ‘personal’ life, in my online life which recently consists of primarily Overclockers UK ( OcUK ) where a lot of banned members were allowed back in. This was news many of us wanted for well over a year as the primary base of the banned users were the posters that used to make the community brilliant. These included Davey_Pitch and Haly, both of which have been links on my blogroll for as long as this blogs been going.
On top of this I was nominated by a lot of members into the position of Underboss (which is a freshly returned position) which was very humbling. I even had a thread created in the consoles section especially for me which was excellent :) .

Now that I am back I promise to get some renders of the project I talked about before on this site. I know I have disappointed anyone who was waiting for them several times in the past, so this time I’ll ty and make up for it. I also need to make a lot more posts, so please feel free to kick my ass on MSN.

Sorry for the length of the post, but I felt I needed to post something substantial.
Expect Amsterdam pictures and more very soon.

Karl ‘nokkonwud’ Moon.
